Starting Saturday, May 2, 2009, TREIA will begin a series of Saturday classes for the new investor. The classes will be held on the first Saturday of May and June. Then we will start again in September and run until November.
The first class will concentrate on the reasons to be in real estate, the four primary areas of real estate and the different thought processes that go into deciding what works best for you. In subsequent classes, we will build on the first by getting into deeper detail on the individual areas of real estate.

Spotting Illegal Activity

Tommy Klein, Detective Sergeant with the Raleigh Police Department, will be the April speaker. He is going to give tips about how to spot various illegal activities in such places as your rental houses and properties you are considering buying. For the majority of us who have no experience with crime or criminals, this will give us an idea of what to watch for.
Drug and other illegal activities can seriously affect the value of a property you are buying for resale and rental. Raleigh's City Council also has handed landlords a huge burden under Raleigh's PROP law to discover the activities of tenants and somehow control it.
This is critical information to anyone interested in real estate, whether you plan to own it or trade it. Don't get caught out!
